GOD FORBID Inspired By 1876 Classical Theme?
April 21, 2009A BLABBERMOUTH.NET user who goes by the name "chtimixeur" has submitted the following item: "I was listening to GOD FORBID's [latest album] 'Earthsblood' the other day, and when I heard the clean guitar part of 'Bat The Angels', it immediately reminded me of an old classical theme released in 1876 by Edvard Grieg. It is called 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King', and GOD FORBID seems to play a slower version of this 'classic' (the notes are almost identical).
Check out the video below for "proof."
Guitarist Dallas Coyle quit GOD FORBID last month following an argument with his brother, fellow GOD FORBID axeman Doc Coyle. Doc said in a statement, "The disagreement [between me and Dallas] became angry on both sides, and he decided to sit out the tour the day we were supposed to leave. We later learned he did not want to tour anymore at all. Everyone in the band, including myself, was upset and shocked. For me, it's a lot tougher because he's my brother and I have a very close bond with him. We've done everything together our whole lives, so it's difficult to deal with emotionally but I understand he has bigger responsibilities at home to care for. I wish he would've handled it in a different way, but I am not angry at him for leaving if he is unhappy with our situation. I really hope he finds success and happiness in his future pursuits."
Former DARKEST HOUR axeman Kris Norris is playing second guitar for GOD FORBID during the No Fear Energy Tour with LAMB OF GOD, AS I LAY DYING, CHILDREN OF BODOM and MUNICIPAL WASTE, which kicked off on April 2 in Phoenix, Arizona.
GOD FORBID's new album, "Earthsblood", sold around 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to land at position No. 110 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
